Our kennels, runs, and pens are specifically designed for the professional such as: architects, engineers, contractors, veterinarians, humane societies, dog pounds, police K-9 units, zoos, boarding kennels, and breeding kennels, who make their livelihood with animals; whose equipment must hold up and last.
Our modular kennels are made strong - and they do last. We start by making our pipe frames with full weight, 1 1/8" O.D. galvanized pipe up to 16' long - none of that lightweight tubing! There are no welds to rust or break. We've designed a special corner clamp that can bolt through the frame, making it very secure, while slots allow condensation out - not trapping it in to rust as welding does. Another benefit to "no welds" is that in the event of a frame being damaged, you can replace the individual pipe that was damaged instead of needing a whole new frame. Just unbolt the damaged pipe and put a new one in its place, drill it and tighten the bolts. Two or more frames can be clamped together for longer runs or pens.
Our
chain link mesh is tightly hand-laced on the frame, making it
extremely tight and strong. Our pipe fittings and fixtures are cast
in green sand molds, allowing the molten metal to shrink properly
without stretching it like hard-set sand molds and die castings do.
For additional strength our fittings have very large ribs.
It's not hard to build a better kennel today.
Returning to heavy, full-weight pipe (like better manufacturers used
to use) has enabled us to do that! Added strength in our fittings and
clamps, the elimination of welds and their problems, and hand-lacing
the mesh to the frame adds strength and keeps it. We've tested
numerous
corrosion-resistant aluminum alloys and feel we've found the best,
even where dog urine is involved. Yes, we DO make a better kennel -
and then some!
Send in your specifications and we will return our quotation on custom building your modular kennel. All fittings and clamps - including our unique, unequaled, easy-close latch - can be purchased separately by individuals and manufacturers to make their own kennels.

I'm Les Shaw, owner of Shaw Production
Foundry and L. Shaw Kennel. I feel it is important that my
prospective customers know a little about me. I started in the
foundry business in 1941, and I'm still learning. My major account
for the last thirty+ years was a major manufacturer of modular
kennels. I designed and supplied strong aluminum sand castings to
them for their fittings, until December 1995 when they said they
could purchase die castings for one third less than our quality sand
castings. This kennel company was 93% of my foundry business for the
year 1995.
Well, we needed to replace this work and feel that there is still a market for high quality modular kennels. We got busy and designed new, heavier, stronger fittings that fit on full weight schedule 40 hot dipped galvanized water pipe. We designed a new gate latch that swings in and out. We decided to use the old tried and proven hot dipped galvanized mesh, none of that cheap electroplated stuff. The mesh is then hand laced to the pipe through each mesh diamond on the outside edge.
Now....I am proudly in the kennel manufacturing business, and we're doing great! I suppose the most revolutionary thing about my business is that the individual customer or other kennel manufactures can also buy my fittings separately and save labor costs by building their own kennel. Any kennel manufacture's biggest sales hindrance is the expense of shipping assembled frames. Customers buying just our clamps can have a great savings on the shipping cost when they buy the water pipe, mesh, soft lacing wire, and bolts locally.
At the present time I do not feel we have any competition in our field, I know of no other nationally advertised kennel using full weight hot dipped schedule 40 water pipe. In the future I expect to offer, as an optional purchase, a less expensive kennel made of tubing instead of full weight schedule 40 steel water pipe. This kennel will be designed for the person looking at price only - longetivity not being a factor...then I expect to have a lot of competitors!
Having my own foundry allows me to make extremely strong fittings and sell them directly to the customer at a reasonable price. I like dealing with smart people who want to get their money's worth. Please Check out all of the other kennel builders and find out exactly what they are using before you make a decision.
It will be a pleasure to serve you.
